camping mini album

Hi everyone! I've been working on completing a mini album I made from our recent camping trip in the thumb area of Michigan, and today I want to show you some of what I've done so far. This is a photo-heavy post, so grab a beverage and get cozy ;)
The album is the chipboard binder in the Ormolu shop. It's completely bare + open to so many possibilities of how to embellish it. I did a combination of a few things. First, I made a diecut of the state of Michigan on the Silhouette and embossed the negative onto the album with UTEE. After a couple layers of misting spray and adding a few tags + banners, the cover was done.
Inside, I used a lot of Ormolu products. In particular, the tree hugger and 2-day hooray lines. Below are many of the interior pages. I was happy to find a home for my Summer 2012 flair on the opening page. Love that button :

I love the dots n' spots for pages like this where you don't have a lot to say. I also used them on blank pages where I didn't have a photo but still wanted to fill the space, like on some envelope flaps :

Project Life opening + closing pages

Today I want to share my closing page for my first Project Life album this year, as well as the opening page for album two.

For the closing page, I went completely photo-less.
My daughter had drawn pictures of the four of us that I really wanted to save, so I cut them down to fit in the 3x4 pockets. I pulled out a lot of my favorite Ormolu pieces to fill in the rest.



On the opening page for the second album, I did the exact opposite. Almost. I decided to try my hand at a 12 x 12 photo enlargement and cut it up to fit into the pockets.
The photo was one I took from our driveway this past spring as the sun was beginning to set. The sun just happened to fit in one of the 3x4 pockets and I framed it with a Bungalow Snapshot. I love how it turned out!
With one album completely full, I also made labels for the spines, using some custom flair, and added one to the finished album. I keep the album I'm working on open, so I'll add the other labels when those albums are full.
I originally had planned to fill 2 albums this year (based on the advice of other Project Lifers last year), but my first album was packed at the end of April. So, 3 albums it is. It will be nice to have three of these sitting on the shelves at the end of this year.

2 Years & 2 Days

When I first saw the Bungalow snapshots, I couldn't wait to cut them up and use them in my weekly Project Life spreads. They are a perfect fit in the 3x4 pockets. Once I had them in my hands and got to spread them out on my craft table though, a scrapbook layout formed.
My son and daughter celebrated their birthdays last week. They are 2 and 4 now and I'm a lucky mama that they get along really well! At just 2 years and 2 days apart, giving them a big joint gift that they would both love was a no brainer for us this year. The photos, all Instagrams, are of Morgan and Parker enjoying their new playset that their Daddy designed and built for them. The frame on the snapshots is 2 1/8" x 2 1/8", so I printed two 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" photos on a 4x6, trimmed them out and adhered one to the back of each snapshot.
Behind the cutouts in the titles on the snapshots, I added a little washi tape so that would pop a little more.
I also used the & flair for the layout title and cut down a couple of flappers to record Morgan and Parker's ages and initials.
I added a little stitching and called it done. Project Life has consumed most of my scrappy time this year, so I haven't made a regular layout in quite a while. I'm so happy with how this one turned out and now I'm motivated to create more!

a birthday card : for her

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to share my first Ormolu project today - a simple birthday card that you could customize a dozen different ways using the custom flair buttons. This is one I made for my sister :

On top of my cardstock card base, I layered a kraft 'YOU' Line & Letter Negative Scallop Tag (which I cut in half) and put some fun bright patterned paper underneath the diecut portion to really make it pop. I wrapped the top half of the scallop tag with a little yellow twine and added a pink girl custom flair button, leaving a little room to slip one of the new Tag Sale Sale Tags behind it. These Sale Tags come with kraft and striped twist ties which you could use in so many different ways! Here I kept mine flat and stapled it to the card to cover the seam where I cut the scallop tag in half.
