I was at a crop a few weeks ago, one where I had brought limited supplies in order to work through some of my stash. One of the pieces I decided to use was this pinky-orange piece I'd been avoiding. It's brighter than I normally use, and a little out of my scrapping color range. I thought it would go perfectly with this photo I've been passing over since Valentine's day.
First I stamped the hexagons, then stamped hexagons on the back of the patterned paper I wanted to cut out. Then I fit them inside the stamped shapes and added more shapes and embellishment for dimension. I used this cute star flair button from the Fact or Fiction Flair Button set to offset the veneer shapes and small hexagons.
I used the memo card from the Line & Letter Storytellers set...the black border really made the journaling jump off of the page. I also added a Blank Filing Tag to mimic the brown paper from the Starbucks cup.
Even though this page started out a little outside my comfort zone, I ended up adding colors I love, like greys, browns and blacks, along with one of my favorite shapes–hexagons–and ended up with a page that I really, really love. Here's to more pink!
xoxo,
Stephanie
