Hi! I'm Emily. :) I am a wife, a mom, and a music teacher in the Chicagoland area. I have two totally amazing kiddos, Henry, who is almost six months old, and his sister Mirielle, who is exactly 2 years and 1 day older! I have been scrapbooking since I was about 10 years old, though back in the day I could really rock the homemade crayon titles and construction paper backgrounds! I've "graduated" to patterned papers and stickers, but I still love it as much as I did 20 years ago!! I've become a more serious scrapper in the past six years and am lucky to have been on a number of different design teams and published in Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooks, Etc., Scrapbook Trends, Memory Makers (remember them!?), and most recently Scrapbook & Cards TODAY. Now that I'm a mom of two, I find the majority of my "free" time is spent working on all those mom things...but when I do have a bit of extra time, in addition to scrapbooking I love reading, photography, trying new recipes, and kayaking when I am able. I also love to blog, though it's a lot more about "real life" than just scrapbooking. It's actually a password protected blog, but I love getting new readers, so let me know if you'd like to check it out! Some other random things about me...
- I always: check my email as soon as I get up in the morning. It's a problem. I know. ;)
- I sometimes: wear mismatched socks...if I can't find a pair that matches. If anyone asks, I just say it's "part of my charm!" ;)
- I never: eat meat. I've been a vegetarian for even longer than I've been scrapbooking! And, because everyone always asks, no, I don't miss it, nor do I ever have cravings for meat. Though, I will admit every once in awhile bacon smells mighty good!
Here are some photos of my creative space (aka: my little corner of the basement!!) when it is clean. It pretty much looked like this for a day... ;) There is more to it than this, but that part wasn't exactly clean enough to share!!
My desk is from Ikea...I love how sturdy it is! It's pretty amazing you can actually see it in this photo...usually it's completely covered! The cabinets were here when we moved in, and while they aren't very pretty to look at they store a ton of stuff!
This is the only window we have in the basement, so I don't get much natural light. I also, as is the trend, started collecting E's. I got the the typewriter from a friend whose sister got it when her school was getting rid of old stuff. I guess they don't realize how "in demand" old typewriters are. They were just going to throw it out!
This wire shelf used to be in my kitchen many moons ago, but now it servres me well to hold all my embellishments, thickers, and some of my paper stash!
My favorite Ormolu product (it was a really hard choice!!) is the set of Negative Numbers Package Tags, which I used in this layout:
and this card:
I just love how they look with patterned paper behind them! Here is another layout I recently created using the Negative Days of the Week Package Tags, which I love *almost* as much!
Giveaway: Ormolu will be giving away a set of my favorite tags to one reader who comments on this post! Also, they will be on sale for the entire month of September!
*Giveaway closed! Barb- you are the winning post :) Please contact me with your address and I will get your tags out to you!

Love the day job layout, such a cute pic of Miri and Henry! I like seeing another way to use the tags too instead of just as a tag. Love the little peek into your creative space. I always like to see where people create the layouts that I bookmark into my faves :)

I love your day job layout! And thanks for sharing your creative space...I have a "craft closet" and am always so jealous of people who have their own desk (since I always use the dining room table)...someday :)

Mismatched socks is the way of the cool kids. I have a niece who has worn her socks mismatched on purpose for as long as I can remember (she's in college, not a little kid).
Your day job layout...love!
