So, last year after Justin and I came back from our honeymoon we only had two regrets (one each). The first was Justin wishing he would have ordered a steak I had at a restaurant in NYC. We had stopped there because he was looking for a place to watch the game and have a few drinks and I was looking for a place to eat. After I had received my dinner and finished all but a few bites I asked if he wanted to try it because it was sooo good. He tried it- then wished he would have ordered that instead of drinks.
My regret was while we were out checking out shops we walked into Fishs Eddy. Fishs Eddy carries all sorts of kitchen items and since we had just bought our house and needed many things still we walked around here for quite sometime. I saw a cute little sugar bowl with the word SHUGUH and a matching creamer cup labeled CREAMUH. I wanted to buy one for myself but also everyone else I knew back home (because I knew they would love it- my family is from out east originally). But, being practical (at that moment) I figured it would be unlikely to get back home in one piece and wanted to make sure I had spending money for the rest of the trip.
A year later and I still wanted the shuguh and creamuh bowls.
I figured I would order them for Christmas gifts (and one for myself)...but they were no longer on the site. Actually, they still have the CAWFEE cup available.
Then I went into I have to have it mode. You know- when you know there is something out there you want and you cannot have. I searched online until I was assured I could no longer buy it.
The next week while walking through Target I noticed some cute white containers for sugar and creamer that might just work if I could figure out a way to get the words on there. So, I bought the containers and headed to the craft store where I picked up some black paint specifically for glass and porcelain. Then I got out my rubber stamps and went to town.
I think they turned out pretty well- I mean, they are not a replica of what I saw...but it does the job and I am happy. And my family must have thought they were pretty neat because I am on the job to make them each one.
Here are the supplies I used:
The first set I used a smaller stamp set but I think these ones turned out better. The first set of creamer and sugar bowls I picked up at Target also said on the bottom oven safe to 450 degrees but the next set did not- but it did fine. First you want to wash your pieces really good- so I put mine into the dishwasher. It also helps get the extra sticker and goop off from price tags.
I figured out the paint works best if you spread a thin layer and use your stamps to stamp into that. If you mess up you can take a wet paper towel and wipe it away as you go. I liked the sorta messy look to them- not straight letters so mine went pretty fast. Then I followed the directions on the back of the paint to make the paint permanent. In this case you set the pieces into a cool oven and turn the oven to 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Shut the oven off and allow to cool before removing. Then they can can be washed in the top rack of your dishwasher or hand wash ( I am just hand washing them).
Ta-Da! Since this turned out so well and was super easy I have plans to do this again with other things. You could even stamp names or images. Just make sure you wash your stamps off really good when you are finished.
I am finishing up my calendar freebie so watch for that coming up here shortly...
That is so cool! I love them and you have given me some wonderful ideas!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Smiles~

Love this Creamuh and Shuguh, so cute. I'm so glad you posted the instructions too. This is great for my Thursday's Creative Thrift post. I'm highlighting it in my blog post tomorrow and I love your shop as always. I've ordered a few nice things from there for organizing my office.
