Summer 2012 Flair & Giveaway Day 3

Who's looking forward to summer? 

For some of you it might have already kinda started. For me I think it will officially start when my daughter gets out of school next Friday and we begin our 'summer schedule' (so looking forward to that!)

I've been tucking these little 'Summer | 2012' flair buttons  into orders that were placed since the new items came out on Friday but I wanted to share so you know to look for it in your order. This is an exclusive flair button that I will include in orders throughout the summer (well, until I end up on maternity leave in August!) I am planning on making a little mini-book to document our summer adventures, which are mostly close to home because of the whole pregnancy thing. 

 
Today's giveaway is a set of Bungalow Clock Flair (either digital or analog style) because I am just loving how these can be used for so many different types of things. Not only to document the everyday but for projects like schedules, chore charts, calendars...

a little peek

I cannot wait until the new release can be shown to you all. The color palettes and the new products are amazing...and as usual, I say Kaitlin has outdone herself this time around!

Here is a layout I created with some of the new goodies, mostly from the Bungalow line:

There are a couple of other colors from this line that didn't make it on to this layout, but the combination is fresh and beautiful! Can you spy the new stuff?!

Get it First | a new release giveaway!

Scrapping with Instagram shots

Since finally getting an iPhone last Spring, I've been bitten by the Instagram bug, and I'm thoroughly hooked on it. I was an avid Flickr user before I discovered IG, and even went so far as to try and complete a 365 by posting there everyday. However, that fell by the wayside sometime around mid-May,  and I decided to give it up, as I just didn't have time to sit and edit photos on a daily basis. Enter IG- it was a perfect alternative to my big DSLR, and so easy to snap a quick photo and edit it  in camera using the various overlays. Also, since my kids are at an age where they are strongly *ahem* opposed to me taking their photo, this seems to be a more subtle approach, as they sometimes don't even realize they're having their photo taken. ;)  I'm enjoying the 'everyday' type shots I get, and the absolute practicality of not having to drag the big camera everywhere I go. The print quality is obviously not as good as my Nikon, but I don't mind sacrificing that as a trade off. Here's a layout I did last week, using a favourite shot of my son and his BFF ( I like to call him my 3rd son, as he's here pretty much 24/7) hanging out on a summer afternoon. This is such a typical scene in my home, and I'm happy I had my phone handy. ( Although, if you're anything like me, your iphone rarely leaves your side, LOL).

Creative Team | Meet the Team: Marti

Hi, I’m Marti! I am a happy wife and mom of 4 (Marc 26, Sean 25, and Brendan 11 – and a girl, Katie 6). I also became a Grammy last September to my beautiful grandson, Landry. I am blessed to be a SAHM and I am grateful to spend my days caring for our family. Scrapbooking became my passion 14 years ago when I moved to Cheyenne and I’ve been hooked ever since. I love to read, quilt, bake, and have recently taken up golf again after a 13 year layoff. 

• I always…Iron. It is a sickness, I know. I iron almost everything and my friends tease me about it constantly.

• I sometimes…Watch movies, but usually not. I don’t know why, but I just don’t like them very much.

• I never…Have been on a trip with my husband sans children. We took my two oldest with us on our honeymoon to Maui (they were 9 and 10). This year, for our 17^th wedding anniversary, we are going to remedy that. I cannot wait.

I saw this saying on a Pinterest board and just knew I had to use it as a title. My daughter, Katie, cannot walk by a dandelion without picking it and blowing the fuzz off. We recently took a mini-vacation to Steamboat Springs, CO and, once again, she found a dandelion and began blowing on it. Luckily I had my camera handy so I could capture it (even if it was from behind).

 

I began by misting my kraft cardstock lightly.

I cut three “Embellishment” die cuts with my Silhouette, then layered them and bent some of the stems up to give it some volume and texture.

I stitched the Treehugger flapper onto the This Is Storyteller, then adhered the Happy Go Lucky Dots & Spots with some foam adhesive.

 

My favorite Ormolu product is the Scripture Tags. They are so versatile! You can use them to make a bookmark, a quick card, or as an accent on a LO. The colors are beautiful, as well.

Creative Team | Week in the Life Inspiration and a Giveaway

 

I was SO surprised when Pamella sent me these pictures of her Week in the Life album she has put together- way to be organized!

Here's Pamella's explanation on how she put this together and her game plan for the week:

How I put this together...hmm...basically I made the cover with chipboard sheets and covered them with patterned paper. Then for each day of the week I have 2 page protectors which I cut down and sewed to measure 6"x8". The front page protector of the day will have one main 6"x4" photo, patterned paper, the day of the week (shown using the 2 Day Hooray Cut Sheet) and the date (shown using the Number Tags). The other 3 spots for the day will include pictures, journaling with minimal embellishments. I will use the 2 Day Hooray products for embellishments. Behind the page protectors for each day, I included an envelope to hold receipts and other loose things I may collect from the day. 

I binded the book together very loosely with twine and once all of my photos and such are included, I will make it tighter and cut off the extra twine.

Awesome huh? SO...how about a giveaway?

Creative Team | Numbers!

Numbers are so fun on layouts- I just can't get enough of them and many times they help out with the them of a layout if you are not sure where to start. 

Here is a look at some layouts from the creative team using some numbers... 

5 About You by Emily Spahn

Products used: Number Tags: brights (okay, so unfortunately the paper tags of these are sold out but I have the digital version of these guys here) 

Emily says: 

I LOVE the bright numbers tags!  They have the best colors, and when put together,they work perfectly as a scalloped border. I *really* wanted to use all 10 so I could get the full spectrum of colors, but only 5 fit on my page. ;) I used the colors of the tags as inspiration for the entire color scheme of the layout, choosing papers that matched their vibrant colors.

I love how Emily used the circle tags as a scalloped border- that is something I have never thought of doing before. Definitely going to try that. 

Just the 2 of Us by Pamella Brown

Products used: Vignette Circle Tags, 2-Day Hooray Flappers, Vignette Dots n Spots, 2-Day Hooray Cut Sheet, Flora Embellishments in Vignette, TreeHugger Buttons

I got the idea for this page from the 2 day hooray cut sheet line that said "just the two of us." I knew I wanted to use it for my title for a page about my husband and I"s trip to New Orleans. The vignette circle tags inspired the rest of the page. I punched my photos using a 2 inch circle punch, so that would be the same size as the circle tags. 
I added the 2 day hooray flappers to some of the circle tags and put that through my punch again so there would be a nice, smooth edge. Once I arranged my circles in a way that was pleasing to me, I added some embellishments and stitching to each circle tag.

 

I love how Pamella layers embellishments and uses a simple circle grid to rotate the photos and embellishments. 

Master's Tray by Marti Cobb

Products used: 2-Day Hooray Number Buttons, Soft Petal Tags, Vignette Dots n Spots, Storytellers: Examiner, Vignette Circle Tags

This year, my husband had the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream when he and I got tickets to The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. His favorite spot on the entire course was Amen Corner (a nickname given to holes 11, 12 and 13). I wanted to make him something to hang in his office as a reminder of our trip and I knew these 2-Day Hooray buttons would be perfect for it. Each hole on the course is named after a tree so I also listed the hole name with each number.

 I have had my eye on these printer's trays for a while and am waiting for the right type of project to use one. I love Marti's simple take on this, especially because it is for her husband and it can be difficult to keep a masculine look with these types of  projects.

In other news...I am crazy mad working on a new release and am wrapping things up with that along with sending out orders for Days of the Weeks buttons for Week in the Life. Are you planning on doing Week in the Life? I am thinking I will give it a go this year. I had tried a few years back and did not keep up like I had planned and ditched it mid week. But this year I feel somewhat obligated with Ali using the Days of the Week buttons :)
