Last week we headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park. We have a yearly pass so we try to drive up at least a couple times during the year. We are pretty lucky to live so close so it's easy to make a day trip up there.
Justin and I joked that we can't get all three kids to look at the camera all at once. This is the closest we've gotten lately.
Most of our photos end up like this.
We drove up to Trail Ridge Road (which is the highest pave road in the U.S) but this time we took the road less traveled (which is not paved and it was well worth it. I think we will choose the non-paved road over the paved if given the chance (it's closed for the larger part of the year). It's a beautiful drive with a nice little river along the entire road.
We pull over a few times to let the kids run around and go exploring.
Jude thought it was pretty incredible.
This is approaching the top of the drive. We actually did see some animals- a marmot, elk, deer, a moose and her baby but they were all so quick we didn't get any photos.
Then we drove down the other side for a short distance before heading back home.
On the way down everyone in the back fell asleep and then this little guy got a little car sick later on. Poor kid had to be pulled out of the car in the rain and stripped down on the side of the road! He's a trooper though and did very well!
We had a blast (we all agreed we had way more fun than our earlier trip that week to the zoo)
