Good morning! A couple of weeks ago, my friend Ronda called me and invited me to an impromptu crop at her house in Denver. Several of my favorite people were going to be there, so I was very excited to go. When I arrived and unpacked, however, I was completely lost. I had my favorite supplies, a stack of my favorite photos, good music, laughter, dear friends...and, nada. I literally spent all evening working on this layout, then took it apart and changed it all up once I got home. Has that ever happened to you? Surely I cannot be the only one.
What do you do when you are lacking inspiration? When it happens to me, I always begin with a sketch, or I look online at galleries or blogs (manufacturer's blogs are a great way to find inspiration for the particular products you are using at that moment) , or through magazines. Sometimes though, nothing really helps. When that happens, I put away the layout and pull it back out later. I have also learned that when I go to a crop, I don't get a lot done. I end up sitting and staring at a half-finished project for hours sometimes. I've learned that when this happens, I need to focus on broad-brush tasks like covering chipboard albums with the base paper, or making cards with scraps. I will save the detail work for when I am feeling more inspired.
This layout was of a photo taken at Disneyworld last year. Katie is the girliest girl ever (one time I told her something was blue, and she asked if it was Cinderella Blue, or Snow White Blue), so it was no shocker when she selected these pink, blinged-up Mickey Ears, complete with a veil on the back.
I thought this button was perfect. Ormolu's Flair Buttons are awesome. I adhered it to a flapper in the top left corner.
These little houses on this Bungalow Flapper reminded me of a castle, so I adhered them to the top of my patterned paper so it looked like the spires on a castle. I also placed another Flapper underneath my title.
Next time you are having trouble completing a project, try some of my tricks - or share some of your own with us. We all have moments when we lack inspiration and mojo, so help a girl out! :)
