It's the season for weddings, huh? I was looking over this gift I received from my aunt, Maria this weekend and thinking- this could really help someone out. So, I share.
My aunt Maria (Hi, Maria!) is very creative- although she denies it. She gave Jude this totally awesome paper robot mobile , she made Reiley and Jude a little matching shirt and onsie with electrical engineering terms on them, and each time we visit her I am just blown away how many awesome projects she has done in her house. She also is a great gift giver...as you can see :)
She gave me this shadow box with our wedding invitation in it for my bridal shower. This was absolutely my favorite gift! I know I should be loving my KitchenAid mixer too( and I do- Thanks Mom!) ...but I really loved this shadowbox because it was something I did not expect to open. I have it sitting on my nightstand with my ring bearer bowl from Paloma's Nest (which is also a wonderful place to pick up gifts- LOVE my ring bearer bowl and Caroline is really sweet). The shadow box has all of the contents of our invitation inside including the custom postage stamps I had made with my daughter's drawing.
There is also a drawer on the side of the box that contains little strips of paper with love quotes on it that were rolled up. So cute!
The box she used was picked up at Hobby Lobby and I saw it pretty recently there.
Now here is the part where I throw in some Ormolu love- but only because I truly think this is a good idea. I actually don't have any weddings to attend this year. I think I had two or three last year but this year- nothing, nada, zilch. BUT- if I did have such an occasion to attend I would go ahead and make up this shadow box and place a gift card/money and a paper chain in the drawer. With the paper chain I would add a note stating that the paper chain was meant as a decoration for their first anniversary. I think it would be perfect as the customary first anniversary gift is paper :)
