On Sunday we went with my parents to Rocky Mountain National Park. We are only about an hour drive away so earlier this summer we bought a yearly pass and plan to make good use of it. This time of year is great to visit because of the leaves changing and the elk migrating down to the valley.
First we headed up Trail Ridge road, which we drove up earlier this summer...but this time around was much nicer because of the weather. It's the highest road in the U.S. so it gets pretty cold up there- however on Sunday we were in record highs as far as temperature for this area so it was actually quite nice. Still- it was cool up there.. Apparently I did not take many photos of the area this time around except for Jude all bundled up but it's all tundra up there. Last time we went though it was so foggy and this time completely clear.
He thrashed around in some bushes too.
Nearby was his group with some young. The first time we went up to see the elk (maybe in 2003?) Reiley was 3 years old and was so impressed. I remember her turning to me asking, "can we call this an adventure?"
Reiley is drawn to water. She actually has taken a few dives into mall fountains when she was younger. I had to keep her a ways back as a toddler.
She really loved the color on these fish.
It was a nice break from all the work we've been doing around here lately- although I came home completely exhausted.
