The girls made the cutest little terrariums for Girls Scouts yesterday! Reiley's came out so cute that I want to make my own now! They were quite easy to make and hopefully we can keep it alive...we are not known for our green thumbs around here!
I had fun searching online for terrarium ideas and there are so many cute ones out there- I absolutely love the ones with little plastic figurines. So...when I told Reiley this she ran into her room and grabbed this little dinosaur for hers!
After all of my online research I also discovered where to find the moss- I never really thought you could purchase such an item.
We were able to find most of the items between all of the parents- I had to do a quick trip to Petsmart to get the moss and charcoal. Yes- moss is found at the pet store. It is even called 'terrarium moss'. I had no clue.
They also made draft stoppers (for doors or windows) that came out super cute! These were made using rolled up towels (we reused old towels) which were covered up in fabric, tied at the ends (kinda like a candy wrapper) and decorated using buttons and flowers. Super easy and a great project with earth day coming up! Reiley is using hers for a door propper though- as we don't have window sills and we are quite sure Boston will mistaken it for a chew toy if it is in front of any of our exterior doors.
Speaking of earth day...
I also stopped off to check out proofs of my new items and I am getting even more excited seeing them close to finished! Still no photos for peeks- I will hopefully have them in my hands sometime next week (it seems). But- I can finally share a bit on information on the new items...
After much thought and research over the past couple of years ormolu is going green!
I am so excited about this move and have been wanting to do it for quite sometime. For now it will start off with the new items and slowly transition into redesigns and future designs.
All of the new items are printed on 50% post consumer 100 lb cardstock with soy based inks. In addition, the company that I am working with to print my items uses wind power.
So there is a lot to be excited about with the new items- and to feel good about!
Look for some sneak peeks early next week of new items as I start photographing them and getting them ready to be listed. I also have some special deals and projects planned for the blog as the new items get listed.
