I just got buried and sidetracked.
This week (well, starting yesterday) is cookie kick off in girl scout land and I have one very excited brownie whose goal was to sell 2500 boxes! I talked her into lowering her goal number and she knocked off the 2…then later she knocked off a zero. So now her goal is 50. Good goal.
The start of the year is great! I just love it. It feels like a new beginning- even if it is a self manufactured one. I decided on doing the inevitable project 365…and I even got the real actual kit! In my little hands even! I mean really it is on my scrapbooking table and I opened it and everything! I took pictures so far- it is a small sense of accomplishment. For those of you who are not familiar with the 365 kit- it has created mass chaos in scrapbook land for the last week now. Debuting on the first of the year and selling out in minutes then leaving thousands of buyers in doubt whether they were getting the kit at all. I, however, being highly skilled at purchasing got one (okay it was total luck).
Just to share (and because Amanda said I should)
I sent my mom a text immediately after receiving two (correct confirmations) that went like this:
This morning at 9:00 MST a kit went on sale at Creating Keepsakes. It was a highly anticipated kit so no one could be prepared for the battle which lay ahead in ordering online. No one except me. At 8:45 I logged in, cruised the site, and checked out the process. At 8:56 I attempted to order. Yet failed. By 9:00 the site was frozen-error pages amass- the crowds on the message boards were angry and had their torches ready. But I remain silent and calm. The process was slow….and at times daunting. But at 9:17 MST I got an email confirmation for one kit. At 9:20 the kit sold out.
I dedicate my purchase to you- who has taught me the ways of shopping and ordering via telephone and online, and fighting the masses for TSV’s (today special values in QVC language)
And so –at least it gave my mom a good laugh. Then immediately after I started questioning if I actually would receive the kit.
Ali always does this word of the year thing and I have tried to participate before- tried so hard (not as hard as ordering kits apparently) and this year I decided on a word. It took me six days but I got it done.
I tend to over think these things.
So my word is seek. And I even designed a pretty wallpaper to get me thinking on it.
I used Danielle Thompsons feathers- I just love her stuff!
And some of Rhonnas brushes. It looks anthropologie-ish I think.
I was trying to think up the reason for choosing seek…and I had one. I know I did.
Mostly I thought it was a good word because it had so many possibilities. I like to think it is one of those mysterious things that you decide on and then it creates more meaning later on…my art teacher told me that in college. Sounds deep huh?
But she also made a pair of shoes out of dryer lint so I am not sure if it is meant to put you into deep thought.
The start of the year makes me want to organize- everything.
I got our closets all situated last week and used my new labels to label everything in Reiley’s closet.
She opened it said, “mom what did you do to my closet?!”
At first it was almost like I was in trouble.
I said “what?” (she always says that when she thinks she is in trouble)
Then she said, “I love it!”
phew- off the hook!
I just love labeling.
Well, here is to hoping I come up with some fun pictures to post since I am taking pictures EVERYDAY now.
I have greatly enjoyed my break over the last two weeks from work and all other things but this week I have been mostly productive. I began by taking down Christmas decorations and realizing I still don't have much in the way of decor for my house yet...so now it is empty again. Luckily I am resourceful and have a few containers of vintage items I have collected over the years to help me out.
